Frequently Asked Questions

What does volunteering at Sowa Goat Sanctuary entail?

Volunteer responsibilities include feeding and watering the animals, mucking out stalls, maintaining the outdoor areas by raking up discarded hay and debris, sweeping, cutting up fresh fruits and vegetables for the pigs, and spending time with the animals. We believe that making our animals feel adored every day is a fundamental part of sanctuary and we rely on our volunteers to help us shower them with love.

What kind of time commitment is required?

We require a regular weekly commitment of 2 hours either in the morning or afternoon on the same day each week. In order to plan out our schedule for the week we need volunteers who can reliably commit to the same day and time each week. If you are only available once a month or a few times a year keep an eye out for group volunteer days on our social medias or join our mailing list to hear about one-time volunteer opportunities.

Do I need to have experience with farm animals to volunteer?
